Who We Are
Newsong Basketball Academy offers a comprehensive youth basketball program in Lagos, Nigeria, designed to engage players with diverse interests in the sport. Established in 2015, the academy develops talented and successful athletes by helping them integrate their physical and mental skills through structured training, competitive leagues, and a travel program for boys and girls.
Built on an international training model, our athletes are guided by highly qualified coaches with deep expertise in basketball and extensive experience working with children. We combine year-round training with participation in competitions across Nigeria, ensuring that players ages 5–18 build individual skills, basketball IQ, mental preparation, and teamwork while progressing from foundational levels to elite performance.
OUR TRAINING
At Newsong Basketball Academy, our training is designed to elevate every aspect of the game. We focus on ball control, dribbling, passing techniques, shooting under pressure, defensive skills, court awareness, and effective movement without the ball.

Our goal is to equip every player with the essential skills needed for success both in life and athletics by instilling work ethic, teamwork, responsibility, and accountability. We provide a fun, safe, and competitive environment that empowers athletes to elevate their game to the next level.

We Have Well-Experienced Coaches
As a youth basketball academy led by experienced coaches and educators, we are dedicated to teaching young athletes who have the passion and drive to develop and refine their fundamental and individual basketball skills. Our proven approaches are designed to help every player achieve outstanding results by focusing on:
1. INSTRUCTIONS
Each athlete will be taught the fundamentals of the game according to their individual skill level. The intensity of instruction is personalized, based on their ability to learn and their commitment to maintaining a strong work ethic.
Character Development
At Newsong, we encourage children to grow as leaders and role models both on and off the court. We expect and inspire every athlete to demonstrate good sportsmanship while emphasizing the importance of showing respect for peers, parents, teachers, and coaches.
Self-Esteem
We build each child’s self-esteem by highlighting the strengths in their abilities. At the same time, we work to improve areas of weakness—whether social, physical, or cognitive—and help them apply these improvements directly to their game.
FUN
We always find a successful balance in instruction, practice, competition and play that leaves athlete with a positive feeling of self-achievement and enjoyment at the conclusion of every training.
